AE82 - 5th Generation 1984 - 1987 (yes the FX was not available in 1983)

AE92 - 6th Generation May 1987 - 1992
- Available with 4AFE - 16 Vavle DOHC 1600cc (efi) engine, or 4AGE - 16 Valve DOHC 1600cc (efi) engine.
AE101 - 7th Generation 1991 - 1993 (Pre-Facelift models)
- FX-SJ Available with 4AFE - 16 Vavle DOHC 1600cc (efi) engine - single exhaust pipe
- FX-GT Available with 4AGE - 20 Valve DOHC VVT 1600cc (efi) engine. - dual exhaust pipes
- C52 Manual Transmission gearboxes
- 'Round and Square' inlet manifold, double throttle return springs.
- Super-Strut suspension offered for the first time
AE101 - 7th Generation 1993 - 1995 (Facelift models) (Levin/Trueno continued till 1997)

AE111 - 8th Generation 1995 - 2002 (only avaiable in Europe)
- Available with 4AGE - 20 Valve DOHC VVT 1600cc (efi) engine.
- Base model used to build the WRC Rally Cars
- Last model to have the option of Super-Strut suspension.
- Round head lights introduced
